New Movie Car Up For Sale
The “Ford v Ferrari” movie is one of those car movies that only comes along once in a decade. As the Hollywood film only just premiered in November of 2019 we were excited to find the hero car from the movie already listed for sale in our Celebrity Car Section. The 1966 Ford GT-40 replica with the No. 1 livery was driven by actor Christian Bale (as Ken Miles) in the popular new “Ford v Ferrari” movie. James Mangold directed the film.
Classic Car Marketing, a collector car broker from Southern California, listed the movie car for sale. It crosses the auction block on prime time Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Florida. They wanted Cars-On-Line.com to get the word out so that potential buyers might be aware of this very interesting sale.
Rich MacDonald’s famous Superformance facility in California built this GT-40 reproduction. Unlike other movie cars, Superformance spent great attention to detail on this one for the close-up shots in the movie. The car is not all hacked up as many movie cars are. This one is sweet. Powered by a specially prepared Roush 427R V8 built to 511 cubes, this celebrity car cranks out 600 horsepower thanks in no small part to a K&N Inglese-style injection system and a jaw-droppingly gorgeous rear-exit “bundle of snakes” exhaust. It transfers all that power through a Quaife RBT/ZF-style 5-speed manual transaxle.
